Criminal history background information checks will be conducted by the Department of Education through the Department of Public Safety with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to employment of any applicant to determine whether or not the applicant has been convicted of a crime that bears upon the applicant’s fitness to teach or to have responsibility for the safety and well-being of a child or children under the age of 19 years.
